109 Bertha Tudor, Bertha (Lydy) Tudor Letter to Thom Foulks, circa 1970. Source Text: Undated Letter, circa 1970:

I will tell you as much as I know about our ancestores, altho I don't know the dates.

They came from Holland and settled in Pennsylvania. After a time they moved to Jamestown, Ohio. When the Civil War was declared, Alexandria Lydy joined the North Army. After a time, he was taken prisoner by the South and spent 18 months in the Andersonville Prison. Very few lived to get out of there. After the war, he got an honorable discharge and returned home. In 1873 the family moved in covered wagon to Arkansas, and Gus Lydy was born there. When he was one year old they moved to Indiana and lived there until his death in 1953. They were a hard working family and were farmers, altho very few are farmers today.

In 1893, Gus Lydy was married to Neoma (SIC?) Scott whose ancestors were also from Holland. . They raised thirteen healthy children -- your mother is one of them.
