Mother, Daughter And Granddaughter Killed In Automobile Crash
Mrs. Omar Tarr, Daughter of Frank Manning of this place killed in Wreck.
Mrs. Omar Tarr, Des Moines, IA., daughter of Frank Manning of this place, her daughter, Mrs. Lucille Davis, and Mrs. Davis's little six year old daughter were fatally injured Friday afternoon at Des Moines, when an automobile driven by a son of Mrs. Tarr crashed into an "electric" train on the Northwestern tracks. The daughter, Mrs. Davis, was so badly crushed that she was dead when picked up. Mrs. Tarr and the little granddaughter lived several hours after being rushed to the hospital. The son LaVerne was so badly injured it is thought he has no chance of recovery.
The occupants of the car were going to the fair grounds at Des Moines to see an attraction of some kind, when the accident happened, at two o'clock in the afternoon, but it was several hours later before their names were known and the husbands and other members of the family could be notified.
Word reached relatives in Bradford Friday evening, and Frank Manning and his two sons Glen and Paul drove to Des Moines the same evening. It was a severe shock to the relatives in Bradford.
Mrs. Tarr was the oldest daughter of Frank Manning and left Bradford a number of years ago. Since then she has been residing in Des Moines, where her husband has a position doing railroad work, at the time of their death. Mrs. Tarr was 47 years old, and her daughter, Lucille, 27.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tarr is mourned by two daughters, and two sons, besides the following brothers and sisters in Bradford, Mrs. Frank Hanchett, Mrs. Bert Harris, Glen, Clifford and Paul Manning.
The funeral will be held in Des Moines.
