Last Will & Testament of James Johnson
I, James Johnson of Allen County Indiana do make and publish this my last will and testament. First I direct that my body be decently interred and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my Estate and situation in life and as such Worldly Estate as it has pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose and bequeath of the same in the following manner, to wit: First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first money that shall come to hand of my Estate. I direct that NOAH, my oldest Son receive fifty dollars, seventy dollars that he has received and the aforesaid fifty will make one hundred and twenty. I direct that my daughter FRANCES receive Seventy five dollars. I direct that my daughter ISABELL receive Forty dollars and her oldest Son, VANDERELL, thirty five dollars. I direct that my daughter, HARRIET, receive Seventy five dollars. I direct that my Son ISAAC receive one hundred dollars. I direct that Elizabeth my daughter receive Seventy five dollars. I direct that my son JACOB receive one hundred and twenty dollars. I direct that my Son HARVEY receive One hundred and twenty dollars. I direct that LEWIS my Son receive One hundred and twenty dollars. I direct that my son JOSIAH receive Seventy five dollars. I direct that MARTHA receive Seventy five dollars. I direct that my daughter ALTHA ANN receive seventy five dollars. I direct that my Son JOHN J. receive one hundred and twenty dollars, the aforesaid sums to be paid after my decease and after the decease of my dear wife and to effect this my intent, I hereby vest my Executor with full power and authority to dispose of my real Estate in fee simple in as full and ample a manner in every respect as I could myself do if living, and if any remains, to be divided in proportion to each ones share and I further declare and direct that my dear wife Rebecca shall have full possession of the home place known as the West 1/2 of the South West 1/4 of Section 31 Township 29 Range 12 East and the North East 1/4 of the South East 1/4 of Section 36 Township 29 of Range Eleven. And I hereby make and ordain my worthy and esteemed friend W. S. Robison Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I, James Johnson, this testator, have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty nine.
