The Stark County News, Toulon, Illinois Weds. Nov. 3, 1926 Funeral Services for Mrs. Kitterman Held In Neponset Funeral services for Mrs. J. N. Kitterman, a former resident of Toulon, were held in Neponset last Wednesday afternoon. Brief rites were held at the residence which were followed by services at the Congregational church, Rev. A. K. Johnson, pastor of the church, being in charge. The body-bearers were D. L. Higgins, F. H. Harlan, A. E. Stetson, M. O. Scott, W. G. Blake and J. T. Pickering. Interment was in the family lot in Floral Hill cemetery. The following obituary was read at the services: Mary Townsend, daughter of Luther A. and Hannah J. Townsend, was born in Edinburg, Indiana, December 4, 1846. She died at her home in Neponset, October 24, 1926. When but a child she moved with her parents to Missouri, where she remained until the beginning of the Civil War. She was married to Reuben B. Gardner November 10, 1863. Seven children were born to this union, a son, DeForest, dying in infancy. The surviving children are: L. O. Gardner, Kewanee; Winfield Gardner, Albert Gardner and Mrs. L. H. Bryan, Neponset; Mrs. Allie Sadler, Kewanee, and Mrs. Russell Martin, Princeton. There are four grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Gardner died July 13, 1911, and on November 27, 1916, Mrs. Gardner was married to J. N. Kitterman. Mrs. Kitterman was a member of the Neponset Congregational church. She had been a resident of Neponset for forty years and was widely known throughout the community.

(Jasper Newton Kitterman was born on March 23, 1844 in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois 34,35, died on October 3, 1930 in Pekin, Tazwell County, Illinois 6 and was buried on October 7, 1930 in Bradford Cemetery, Bradford, Stark County, Illinois.)
